U2 and Jay-Z record song for Haiti  Comments ( 0 )

U2, Jay-Z and producer Swizz Beatz have recorded a song together to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake.

U2’s guitarist The Edge told Irish radio station 2FM the band “wrote a song, finished and recorded” last week after being contacted about the idea.

The Edge told 2FM DJ Dave Fanning over the weekend: “Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti.

“So Bono came up with the phrase on the phone and last night we were here, we wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them.

“So, that might be the next thing you hear from us.”

Swizz Beatz also confirmed the project on his Twitter page, saying: “Me, Bono, Hova [Jay-Z's nickname] have something to say about Haiti. Stay tuned.

“I told you I was working on something amazing for Haiti. They need us!”

It is not clear when the single will be released, or whether the artists plan to premiere the song during Friday’s telethon

Jiggaman at Coachella- Coachella Series #1  Comments ( 0 )

Coachella 2010 Lineup

Coachella 2010 Lineup

As most of you that follow the blog may know, once a year I go completely ape shit in the Indio Valley, in the Palm Desert California. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, has been a yearly pilgrimage since 2007, when I saw Bjork, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage against the Machine headline the 3 day fest. I’ve seen Paul McCartney, Justice, Public Enemy, and even the Prince at my oasis in the desert, and except for 1 incident with the local security, here is the thread, each year has gone off without a hitch. The only thing that Coachella has left me wanting is a legitimate Hip Hop Headliner, well I will be waiting no more. To start off my list of must see Coachella bands, I’mma talk about a man who needs no introductions, one of the only Hip Hop artists that could rock an entire festival in the desert, this years Friday night headliner, Sean Carter, aka Jigga, aka the Jiggaman, aka J-Hov, aka Hova, aka the Head of the Roc Fam, aka Jay- Z.

The rest of this line-up is tight, but considering I was about to drop $100 for shit seats in the Staples center to see Jigga in March the news that he will be at Coachella is a earth shattering relief, for both me and the wallet. Considering I’ve had my Hotel and Ticket Booked since 12/15/09, I can now say forget the Staples Center I’m waitin’ for Jay in the Desert.

So in Case you have been living under a rock, that has been hidden in a cave, at the bottom of the Ocean, here is alittle on Jay-z. (I was gunna write a bio, but there are so many out there that I think a quick trip through his musical catelogue, might do this the best.)

He started as a hype man and rapper along side The Jaz, who would have thought that this quick spitter who coined the phrase.. “don’t get caught perpitratin the cool ones,” while lookin like a black Where’s Waldo would change Hip Hop forever.

araab muzik = MPC KILLER  Comments ( 0 )

If you’ve never seen or heard improvisational DJ-ing, then you must ABSOLUTELY watch this video (taken from the Mad Decent blog). I remember I went to see Justin Timberlake in concert (don’t judge me) and Timbaland performed with his protege. Timbo looped a track and basically created the beats and sounds on the fly. It was incredible to watch him orchestrate such awesome music.

This guy does the same thing. You can’t even see his fingers they’re moving so fast. It’s genius and crazy, crazy skills.

NWK - Peels back the Basement Window  Comments ( 0 )

Normally my posts are fully equipped with some video or music, but this one is strictly art. I’ve spent a good portion of December in the Basement, getting fresh for the holidays and finishing finals. During that time I also worked on a 5 painting Series of “gifts for the fam.” Each painting is 9 x 12 and done in acrylic and spray paint, each represents my message to a family member using thier style of music and their lyrics to get the message across. Comment, like Blog back, I don’t really care this ws just to let ya’ll know that we’re still grindin’. Here are 3 of the 5.

The Ruler

The Boss

The other two paintings will be posted later but since I didn’t shoot them before gifting them, I first must teach my Gramma-ma to use a digital camera so it may take a minute for that.

There will be more to come.

Peace,
NWK
